Cadogan Works on Kitchen Addition to Hall
Residents of Cadogan through the local Agricultural Society are in the midst of getting an addition done to the hall—the first major renovation done since the building opened 18 years ago.

The main project is an addition to the kitchen area to provide more work space and room for a walk-in cooler, an industrial dishwasher as well as extra storage space. An upgrade is also being done to the electrical system.

Work on the project began a month ago and an estimated $70,000 to $80,000 will be spent.

The hall’s hardwood floor was re-surfaced recently as well with close to $5,000 spent on that project.

The three people serving on the building committee, Dave Evans, Ken Curtis and Len Kjos were at the site and talked to The News recently.

Evans says that the dishwasher will be an important part of the kitchen and Curtis adds that it is now required due to health issues.

Kjos noted that the project is being interrupted because of a delay in receiving drywall material.

Curtis adds that they have an arrangement that allows an upgrade to the electrical system and for a generator to plug into the building in emergency which will provide some basic back-up power to the infrastructure.

The cash is in place for the renovation and expansion.

Kjos adds that the building is very well used.

President of the 80 member Cadogan Agricultural Society is Bill Wolfe.

The group is also looking into the idea of renovating the bar area and eventually adding a commercial stove.

Cadogan has a population of 132 people.
