Best Photo Essay
The Provost News has won third place in recent national newspaper competitions.

The Canadian Community Newspapers Association’s (CCNA) national convention was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, May 9-11 and on Friday night awards were presented.

The News took third place for “Best Photo Essay.”

First place went to The Didsbury Review from Alberta while second went to The Minden Times from Ontario.
There were 55 entries in this category.

The local paper, with a circulation average of approximately 2,000 was competing in that category with larger staffs and papers having circulations of up to 3,999. Photographer of “Bringing in the Sheaves” a two page colour layout was editor Rich Holmes. The judge in his comments noted that “Considerable thought had been given to the subject, and the effort required some technical adaptation.”

The award joins 12 other national ones over the years earned by The News, plus 16 at the provincial level.
