The fire prevention awards that came with a plaque and $200 were announced by fire safety programs officer, Te-Jay Thompson on behalf of Alberta Municipal Affairs and housing. The News also won the first place award in 1999. Thompson said the winning entry was “Very good with lots of information, great local focus, and not overwhelmed by ads.”
