Taking a Bite Out of the Past
 |
With help from the powerful jaws of a trackhoe, the once bustling Horizon Motel & Restaurant is finally getting demolished. This photo depicts one of the first of several ‘bites’ taken out of the abandoned business late Tuesday afternoon, April 15. Within minutes, several of the motel rooms were crunched into a heap of rubble — and by the next day, the west wing was gone. On the north side of Provost, thousands of motorists have been passing by the old buildings which have been gradually falling apart. This work will make space for new growth of business and investment in Provost. At the scene, Kevin Huttges of Huttges Renovations & Contracting told The News that this heavy portion of demolition work will take 10 to 12 days.
