Swimmers Bring Back Medals from Provincial Meet
Several members of the Provost Piranhas Swim Club swam in the 2008 Alberta Summer Swimming Association provincial championships held in Edmonton on August 16 and 17.

Results included:
Shaylyn Beier – Girls 9 and 10 - 50m breaststroke – 15th.
Brittany Bouma – Girls 13 and 14 – 50m butterfly – silver, 50m freestyle – silver, 100m freestyle – 4th, 100m breaststroke – 6th. She also swam on the Region D Girls 13 and 14 – 200m freestyle relay team that earned a gold medal and set a new provincial record.
Ryan Hauck – Boys 13 and 14 – 100m breaststroke – 14th.
Kolby Johnston – Boys 9 and 10 – 50m backstroke – 10th, 100m freestyle – 12th, 100m IM – 15th. He also swam on the Region D Boys 9 and 10 – 100m freestyle relay team that placed 6th, and the Region D Boys 9 and 10 100m medley relay team that placed 5th.
Kaitlyn Knox – Girls 9 and 10 – 50m breaststroke – 4th, 50m backstroke – 14th. She also swam on the Region D Girls 9 and 10 – 100m freestyle relay team that placed 5th, and the Region D Girls 9 and 10 – 100m medley relay team that placed 5th.

Kristen Pylypow – Girls 9 and 10 – 50m freestyle – 13th, 100m freestyle – 14th.
Girls 9 and 10 – 100m medley relay – Hailee Schmidt, Kaitlyn Knox, Shaylyn Beier, Kristen Pylypow – 5th.
Girls 9 and 10 – 100m freestyle relay – Kaitlyn Knox, Hailee Schmidt, Shaylyn Beier, Kristen Pylypow – silver.
Girls 11 and 12 – 200m freestyle relay – Kylee Brad, Taylor Siefert, Tamara Paulgaard, Kaylee Pylypow – 12th.

Rains Will Help Fill Out Crops, Reduce Fire Hazard—Farmer
Records being kept near Hayter show that there appears to be a trend to less rain falling over the last few years.

Jim Schon who farms eight miles south of Hayter says that this growing season (from a four month period of May 1 to August 12) he had recorded 178 millimetres (7.1 inches) of rain in his yard. He will keep recording any daily rainfall until the end of this month.

That compares to last season’s full four month period of 14 inches (2007).

Victim Services Board Dissolves, Funds Turned Back to Community
The Provost and District RCMP Victim Services board of directors have dissolved and over $18,000 has being given back to the community. The society was unable to maintain the program because of numerous vacant volunteer positions not being filled.
