Kinsmen Marking Half Century of Service With Celebration
The Kinsmen Club of Provost is celebrating a half century of service to the community and will hold a special evening on Saturday, April 19.

Rich Dieser, who is chairman of the special evening told The Provost News in an interview that they will try to have an evening where past and present members can get together and reflect on 50 years of Kinsmen activity in Provost.

Others may also attend the evening where a $20 admission ($35 per couple) will include supper at Prairie Hall. The Alberta Room will also be rented to help accommodate a “wide age group” expected to attend.

The men’s club turned 50 years old on January 8, 2008.

Plans are being made to invite: Randy Gregory (life member of the club), Mayor Ken Knox and Reeve of the MD 52 Allan Murray to speak, along with government officials like the local MP and MLA.

Presentations, speeches, a slide show of Kinsmen and possibly Kinette pictures will be shown.

The Kinettes folded several years years back.

Kinsmen minutes from a meeting in 1959 will be displayed that night along with an old bulletin and other memorabilia . . . “as many as can be found.”

As well there will be “a walk through time that evening, past and present and possibly the future.” Fund raising events for projects like the arena, swimming pool, and others will be also be recalled.

Because it may be difficult to reach all the old members, the club will try to contact as many as they can, but will rely on the public’s help to pass on the word about this event “and have people to get in touch with me if they have questions” adds Dieser.

If anyone is planning to attend the club will need to know for catering purposes.
