Provost Midget Girls Fastball Club Provincial Winners
The Provost Midget girls fastball team (18 years and under) won first place at the Alberta Softball Midget “C” provincial finals held in Leduc July 3-5.

The Provost team won all four of their games in the round robin defeating Sedgewick Snipers (15-4), Leduc Mustangs (11-4), Spruce Grove Thunder (8-1) and Edmonton Wellington Royals (10-4).

In the semi final the girls once again defeated Sedgewick (8-0) advancing to the gold medal game and then defeating the Calgary West Valley Vipers (8-0).

Provost roared through the tournament by outscoring the opposition by a combined total of 60-13 in the tournament.

Coach Perry Walz attributed the big win to pitching and timely hitting. “Pitching is our strength,” Walz said. “This past weekend we combined it with good hitting as well as good defense. That combination allowed us to be a tough force every game.”

The team had a record of 23 wins and four losses over the course of the season.
