War Dead Memorial Destroyed

RCMP are investigating the destruction of a war memorial in Hughenden that had been erected to honour the memory of those Canadians who fought in World War I and World War II. Police say that on Saturday, June 8 at approximately 0000 hours a red Ford style pickup was observed driving at a high rate of speed in the village. This vehicle lost control and slammed into the cenotaph on 50th Street in downtown Hughenden. The unknown persons then drove off without reporting the incident. Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and the driver involved and ask if anyone with information pertaining to this case to contact the Provost RCMP or CrimeStoppers Top photo submitted.
