Tariffs on Canola Shuts Down “One of Our Major Markets”,
Says Alberta Canola Director for This Region
 |
China is imposing 75.8 percent tariffs on Canadian canola and has effectively stopped buying it, reducing options as to where it’s sold, Roger Chevraux of Killam, Alta. told The News in a phone interview on Friday, August 22. He serves as director on the Canadian Canola Growers Association, Alberta Canola Producers Commission (zone 11 which includes Provost), Grain Growers of Canada and the Canada Grain Commission. It’s frustrating that the Canadian government has known this was coming since last September and they haven’t done a thing, says Chevraux.
